BulkGate is a perfect channel for sending personalized, time-sensitive SMS text messages like abandoned cart reminders. You can send one message or create a series of multiple abandoned cart reminder messages. Please follow this guide to connect CartBounty with BulkGate and start using SMS reminders.

1. Integrating with BulkGate

BulkGate offers an affordable SMS service with an excellent coverage across the world. Besides that, registration process is quick, easy and a free. Please follow these steps to connect CartBounty with BulkGate.

  1. Sign in to BulkGate
  2. Open Modules & APIs
  3. Choose to create a new “HTTP Advanced API”
  4. Copy the Application ID and token
  5. Go to your WordPress dashboard > WooCommerce > CartBounty Pro
  6. Open Recovery tab > BulkGate
  7. Paste the ID and token
  8. Use the “Save settings” button

If the integration is successful, you will see a green “Connected” notice and automation workflow settings will become available. Now you are ready to move to the next step and setup abandoned cart SMS recovery.

2. Abandoned cart SMS reminders

Abandoned cart SMS reminder is an excellent tool to add to your toolbox as not only it provides a high reach as a marketing channel, but also gets more engagement than email and is more affordable than Facebook or Google remarketing.

Please follow these steps to setup abandoned cart text messages in CartBounty.

  1. Go to your WordPress dashboard > WooCommerce > CartBounty Pro
  2. Open Recovery tab > BulkGate
  3. Follow this TCPA / GDPR compliance guide and mark it as complete once done
  4. Click on the First message to open its settings
  5. Enable the text message
  6. Choose to send the SMS after 5 minutes if you would like for it to be delivered 60 minutes after the cart has been abandoned
  7. Edit message contents. Please see this to learn how to translate text messages
  8. Optionally personalize message using dynamic content tags
  9. Optionally setup a coupon
  10. Test your text message before sending it
  11. Repeat these steps for the 2nd and 3rd messages if you would like to send a series of multiple reminders
  12. Select BulkGate Sender type and provide sender name if necessary
  13. Optionally enable SMS sending to specific countries
  14. Optionally enable Quiet hours
  15. Use the “Save settings” button to start the automation

CartBounty offers both email and text message reminders. You should try and experiment with both to find the perfect abandoned cart recovery formula which yields the best results for your audience.

3. Enable coupons

CartBounty allows to include both static and one-time generated discount codes inside recovery emails to sway users into completing their orders. Please follow these steps to enable coupons and include them in your reminders.

  1. Go to your WordPress dashboard > WooCommerce > CartBounty Pro
  2. Open Recovery tab > BulkGate
  3. Open the message in which you would like to include your coupon
  4. Choose to generate a unique coupon code for each abandoned cart user or select an existing coupon code from the list that will be sent to eligible abandoned carts
  5. Setup Usage restrictions if necessary
  6. Optionally add [coupon] tag inside your message content
  7. Use the “Save settings” button

Now, if a user clicks on the abandoned cart recovery link inside the message, the coupon code will be automatically applied – you do not even have to include the coupon code itself in the message.

Abandoned cart users who are not eligible for the coupon code will not receive it, nor will it automatically be applied.

4. Limit countries

By default, abandoned cart reminders will be sent to all countries, but this can be limited to specific countries. This can be useful in case you are mostly focused on a specific region or country.

5. Quiet hours

The Quiet hours allow you to set a time period during which your store will not send any text messages. Message will be delivered once quiet hours have passed. It can greatly improve your customer experience and increase the chances of abandoned cart recovery. Here are two tips to keep in mind:

  • Do not wake up your customer as he or she most likely will return to sleep
  • Send reminders when the customer may be less likely to ignore it

CartBounty will detect customer’s time zone and check if it is safe to send the reminder at the moment or should the reminder be postponed until the quiet period has ended.

To make sure CartBounty users do not accidentally forget to setup quiet hours, all United States-based abandoned cart customers will not be receiving text messages from 21:00 to 08:00 (unless set otherwise).

6. How to opt-in customers for text messages

CartBounty allows an easy way to collect customer consent about text messages both during WooCommerce checkout and in tools like Exit Intent and Early capture. Please follow these steps to enable it.
